Police Information Management System

A nationwide software Police Information management System (PIMS), database network system can be implemented phase-wise to aid in the operations of police officers from the police headquarters to the police station level. To supervise this project, a separate supervisory wing police Information System Center (PISC) may be formed and their role may be as follows

  • Will establish network to all support division all metropolitan police station, division, district and sub-division.

  • To involves installation of Computers.

  •  Make the project budget.

  • Complete the task by the vendors on stipulated time-frame. Including Hardware software and LAN-WAN vendors

List of Equipment for the system

  • Most divisions and sub-division will receive between 1 to 3 computers.

  • Data entry divisions would receive more computers, such as Traffic Endorsement Control Center of the Traffic Division and the Criminal Records Division would receive 15 and 30 computers respectively.

  • Metropolitan Police Stations would receive between 2 to 3 computers

  • Investigation Sub-Division – 1

  • Dot matrix printers and

  • Laser printers.

  • Scanner

  • Digital camera

  • Desks and chairs would also be provided, so the only thing the recipient has to do is specify the location.

Operating Environment

  • Applications in PMIS should develop on the Windows environment with Graphic User Interface (GUI). Every screen is presented in Bangla and very user friendly, so users do not have to be computer experts.

  • The whole database shall be under industry std. Database environment ( Oracle/MS SQL etc.)

  • PMIS will effectively change the old vertical procedure of operations to a much more efficient horizontal procedure of operations (flat organization).
